Our family's story
Keith and Jessie Ahrens moved onto the property the storage company is on in 1945, purchasing it from Jessie's parents a couple years later. After farming the land for almost 25 years Keith retired from farming and went to work for the Mt. Baker School District where he did maintenance, drove bus, and wondered what to do with the newer buildings on the property. One day while driving his bus the idea came to him about storage and Ahrens Storage opened in 1969. This makes us one of the longest running storage companies in Whatcom County.

Ahrens Storage initially stored boats, campers and cars but after a couple of years Keith began to convert the buildings to accommodate mini-storage. Today vehicle storage is mostly outside.

The company has been family owned and operated ever since then with Keith and Jessie's youngest son, Neil, purchasing the company and taking over management in 2005.

People from all around the county have found Ahrens Storage to be a safe, inexpensive and friendly place to store their goods.

Because we are locally owned, when you rent with us you help the local economy by keeping your money local.
